João R. Mesquita (D.V.M., M.Sc.; Ph.D.) is a Professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Viseu and a Researcher at the EPIUnit – Public Health Institute of UP, teaching topics within Infectious Diseases for more than 12 years. Over his career, he has focused on both animal and human Virology, where he has published over 50 papers in JCR indexed Journals. He has won several scientific prizes from different societies and conferences, where he has presented numerous oral and poster presentations. His research interests are focused on animal and human virology, mainly on zoonotic viruses, with a special interest in surveillance tools, epidemiology and infection control.
